EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette College trailed for just six points on Friday night, defeating Loyola University Maryland volleyball 25-22, 25-22, 25-16, in a Patriot League match.
Caitlin Churney scored the third point of the match with a kill to give Loyola a 2-1 lead, but that was the only time the Leopards would trail in the first set as they reeled off six-straight points.
The second set was tied at several points, and Loyola went up by two, 15-13, with a
Kennedy Stevens ace, but Lafayette scored the next three and led or was tied for the rest of the match.
Churney had eight kills to lead Loyola, while
Lauren Link posted seven and
Kacy Sekunda had six.
Rose McDermott led the Greyhounds with 16 digs.
The Greyhounds return to Reitz Arena on Sunday, October 8, for a 2 p.m. match against College of the Holy Cross.
