BALTIMORE – A member of the Loyola University Maryland men's swimming and diving team earned Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week honors for the second time in as many opportunities on Tuesday as Joe Hayburn picked up the latest honor.
 
Hayburn won four individual events and was a member of three victorious relays last weekend as the Greyhounds men remained undefeated this season with victories over Colgate, American and William & Mary.
 
The freshman, who won the award a week after Loyola junior Henry Mueller earned the recognition, opened the weekend with victories in the 100 freestyle and 200 individual medley in a double-dual meet against the Raiders and Eagles. He finished the meet with a victory in the 400 freestyle relay, too.
 
Saturday, Hayburn was on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays, and he swept the backstroke events (100 and 200) at William & Mary.
 
Early in his first collegiate season, Hayburn has the top Patriot League times in the 50- and 100-yard backstrokes, the No. 2 time in the 200-yard backstroke and three other times that rank in the conference's top 20. He has also been a part of five relays (200-, 400- and 800-yard freestyle relays and the 200- and 400-yard medley relays) that currently top the League charts.
