Coyle Earns Patriot League Men’s Swimmer of the Week Award

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland sophomore Brennan Coyle was named the Patriot League Men's Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday after his standout performances at the H2ounds Invitational last weekend.

Coyle earned Male Swimmer of the Meet honors after winning three events and setting multiple records for the Greyhounds.

He recorded an NCAA B Cut time in the 100 breaststroke, swimming the fastest time in the Patriot League this year, 52.04. The time also set school, meet and Mangione Aquatic Center records for the Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, native.

Coyle also won both sprint freestyle events at the invitational, taking first in the 50 and 100 freestyles in personal-best times.

He won the 50 in 20.14 seconds, and he later won the 100 in 43.61 seconds, both good for the third-fastest times in the conference this season in the respective events. Coyle's time in the 100 also set a pool and meet record.

Coyle and other members of the team will come out of Thanksgiving Break and compete at the U.S. Open Championships, December 3-6, in Austin, Texas.
