BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland men's and women's swimming and diving won every individual and relay event on Friday night, and both have leads of more than 120 points after the first day of the H2ounds Invitational.
 
The women's team heads into Saturday's sessions with 413 points to lead Howard (289) and Catholic (208), while the men are up 411 to 276 and 234 on the two schools.
 
Opening With A Record

• Joe Hayburn got the Greyhounds out of the gate with a record in the opening leg of the men's 400-yard medley relay. The freshman went 47.23 seconds in the 100 backstroke to set a Loyola and Mangione Aquatic Center record.
• Hayburn's time was also an NCAA 'B' Cut in the 100 back.

Relay Winners

• The men and women took at least the top two spots in all four relays on Friday night.
• Lily Mead, Avery Stimmel, Michaela Schultz and Faye Moser were first in the women's 400 medley relay with a time of 3:44.30, while Kelly Bruen, Paige Simko, Kaitlyn Witkop and Charley Tulio came in second (3:47.30).
• On the men's side, Joe Haybyrn, Michael Gozdan, Patrick Hayburn and Liam Schindler opened with a time of 3:13.47 to win the 400 medley, while Sam Voss, Max Verheyen, Cameron Shinnick and Joey Zellner took second in 3:17.82.
• Loyola's women were first and second in the 800 freestyle relay to end the session as Riley Fried, Schultz, Kate O'Brien and Riley Zinger swam 7:33.25. Faith Karr, Maddie Testa, Moser and Lauren Lane took second in 7:44.98.
• Caleb Kelly, Jonah Goodman, Harry Hearn and Henry Mueller clocked a time of 6:37.08 to lead a one-two-three sweep for the men's team in the 800 freestyle relay. Tyler Knurek, Tie Manuel, Riley Coyle and Kiernan Leary were second in 6:42.97, while Floyd Conlin, Pierre Leroy, Alex Plavoukos and Joe Coleman took third in 6:49.89.

No Distance Too Far

• The men's team took the top six spots, and the women claimed the top four, in the 500 freestyles on Friday.
• Leary led the men in 4:32.42 with Leroy (4:33.12) and Goodman (4:33.17) less than a second behind. Plavoukos took fourth in 4:34.11, while Peter Weinstein (4:36.28) and Josh Stegner (4:40.78) were fifth and sixth, respectively.
• Karr brought home a victory for the women in 5:01.98, out-touching Riley Zinger in 5:02.39. Schultz finished third (5:05.25), and Alana Andress was fourth (5:12.39).

Medley Of The Individual Type

• Owen Glaser led a one-through-five sweep of the men's 200 individual medley, winning in 1:49.64. Conlin finished second (1:50.48), while Michael Venit claimed third in 1:51.90. Matt Voight finished fourth in 1:54.02, six-hundredths of a second in front of Liam Morris (1:54.08).
• Riley Fried edged Laura Latham on the women's side of the IM, winning in 2:05.74 to Latham's 2:05.81. O'Brien finished fourth in 2:08.06.

The Fast Race

• Loyola's men again went one-through-five in the 50 freestyle as Patrick Hayburn cut through the water to win in 20.29. Gozdan and Schindler tied for second in 20.70, while Mueller was fourth in 20.72, and Zellner took fifth (20.92).
• Stimmel was the winner for the women in the 50 freestyle, swimming 23.28, seven-hundredths of a second better than Tulio's 23.35. Haley Robinson edged Moser for third, 23.82 to 24.03.

Dive Right In

• Loyola earned the top three spots in both diving events on Friday night.
• Calista Fasser won the women's 3-meter discipline with 233.35 points, while Kassidy Georgevich was second (218.33), and Lily Bistline took third (194.65).
• Thomas McCarthy finished first for the men with 273.9 points. Sam Hersick was second (258.20), and Tyler Zarzycki finished third (216.50).
