ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Loyola University Maryland women's track and field team ran in an outdoor competition for the first time this season on Saturday as the Greyhounds headed to the U.S. Naval Academy for the Navy Spring Invitational.
The Greyhounds competed against athletes from Maryland, Mount St. Mary's and the host Midshipmen.
Meaghan Leonard took sixth place in the 800 meters, leading a group of five Greyhounds in the event with a time of 2:18.30.
Carly Spinnler was less than a second behind in 2:19.20 to take ninth, and
Lauren Riddle ran 2:26.46 to finish 14
th.
Norah Affanato (16
th, 2:29.57),
Maddie Hyde (17
th, 2:33.80) and
Melanie Torales (18
th, 2:34.69) also competed in the event for Loyola.
Three Greyhounds raced in the 100 meters with
Madelyn Ricard taking fifth in 13.21 to lead the group.
Jessica Boos was a spot behind in 13.44, and
Ava Dunn took seventh in 13.60. Ricard and Dunn then took 10
th and 11
th in the 200 meters with times of 27.73 and 27.98.
Jamie Adams was the top Loyola runner in the 400 meters, claiming fourth in 57.94, just ahead of
Olivia Malley's fifth-place time of 58.22.
Ajia Morrison ran seventh in 60.82, and
Caroline O'Connell was a spot back in 62.95.
Abby Potticary took 10
th in the 1,500 meters, running 4:49.45, and
Kylie Maddalena was the second Loyola runner across the line in 5:00.72.
Amaya Cunningham was 16
th in 5:13.47, while
Isabella Coleman took 17
th in 5:13.82.
Lily Angluin ran 18
th in 5:17.06.
Lauren Gerow made her collegiate debut in the 400-meter hurdles with a fifth-place time of 72.83, and
Sammie Spargo took fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:04.54.
