BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland women's tennis won the doubles point and three singles matches on Saturday to edge visiting Colgate University, 4-3, at McClure Tennis Center. The men's team fell to the Raiders, however, 7-0.
Lauren Manwiller and
Christine Richiez beat Katerine Atallah and Natalie Fuller, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles, and
Olivia Tracey and
Liza Tankimovich then finished off the opening point for Loyola with a 6-3 win over Emily Untermeyer and Addie Eklund at No. 3.
Colgate's Amelia Galin and Emme Levenson beat
Taylor Kuncl and
Emi Shivkumar, 7-5, at No. 1 doubles.
Richiez took a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Eklund at No. 3 singles, and Tankimovich was a 6-3, 6-0 winner against Jordan Ben-Shmuel at No. 4 to put Loyola in front, 3-0.
The Raiders got a point at No. 1 singles where Galin beat Tracey, 6-4, 7-6 (4), but Manwiller clinched the team win with a 7-5, 7-6 (0) victory at No. 2 against Levenson.
Colgate's Fuller beat
Katie Moorhead, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 5, and Atallah was a 6-4, 6-0 winner against Kuncl at No. 6.
In men's doubles,
Oliver Davey and
Harry Zeiders swept Josh Israel and Aidan Lee, 6-0, at No. 2, but Colgate won the other two matches. Jack Selati and Benito Vlassis topped
Nick Haggar and
Ryan Boland, 6-3, at No. 1, and Mason Caldwell teamed with Dean Vlassis to beat
George Cavo and
Matt Cardano, 7-5, at No. 3.
Selati got past Cardano, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 singles, and Benito Vlassis used three sets to beat Davey, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 2. Ben Graham was a 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 winner against Cavo at No. 3, and Max Litton topped
Dylan Koziol, 6-1, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 4. Mike Thomas defeated
Ryan Boland in a super-tiebreaker at No. 5, 3-6, 6-2, (11-9), and Tejas Gupta topped Zeiders, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 6.
