BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland women's basketball head coach
Danielle O'Banion was selected as one of seven new voting directors on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) board, the organization announced on Thursday.
"The WBCA continues to set the standard for coaches associations regardless of sport and level." O'Banion said. "I'm honored to serve on the board during this historic time in women's basketball."
O'Banion, who is entering her third season as head coach at Loyola, was selected by the board of the WBCA during a special meeting on June 7, and she attended her first in-person meeting on July 20 in Atlanta, Georgia. She will now serve as one of 20 voting directors and is one of five NCAA Division I head coaches on the board.
"Our 2023-24 WBCA Board of Directors is diverse, engaged, experienced and eager to address the challenges facing our association as we continue to navigate the post-pandemic world in which we live," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "From determining how we can best continue to serve the membership effectively, efficiently and economically to identifying new revenue streams, the board is working hard to provide strategic vision and tactical direction to my staff and me as we together strive to ensure the continuing success of the association."
