BALTIMORE – Coppin State University outhit Loyola University Maryland volleyball, .323 to .056, on Tuesday night, sweeping the Greyhounds, 25-16, 25-17, 25-16, in a non-conference match at Reitz Arena.
Set Breakdown
- Set One
- Coppin State turned a 7-7 tie into a 15-10 lead as the Eagles took advantage of 12 Loyola hitting errors in the opening set.
- The Greyhounds closed to within two, 18-16, but TaKenya Stafford sided out with a kill, and the Eagles scored the last seven points of the stanza.
- Set Two
- Lauren Link gave Loyola a 9-8 lead with a kill, and the set was tied shortly thereafter at 11-11 following a Greyhounds service error. The service error was the first of seven-straight points for the Greyhounds with Hope Casel giving Coppin State a 18-11 lead with two kill sin a row.
- Set Three
- Coppin State used a 9-2 run midway through the third to take firm control with a 19-12 lead.
Stat Pack
- Loyola had 29 kills in the match, but the Greyhounds committed 23 errors overall.
- Link led Loyola with eight kills, while Kacy Sekunda had seven and Kennedy Stevens six.
- Stevens and Morgan Crawford both combined for three total blocks.
