OWINGS MILLS, Md. –
Nelly Cruz and
Sammie Spargo won the 100-meter hurdles and the 3,000-meter steeplechase for Loyola University Maryland track and field on Friday at the Stevenson Invitational.
Cruz became the fifth-fastest woman at Loyola in the 100 hurdles, winning a wind-legal 15.65 seconds to claim the victory.
Spargo finished first in the steeple, racing to a time of 12:06.60.
Lauren Gerow gave the Greyhounds a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking 69.05.
Chelsea Ayitey-Adjin finished sixth in the 400 meters in 65.89.
Kiera Udell led three Loyola runners in the 800 meters, finishing sixth in 2:25.08, while
Claire Dalsass was ninth in 2:27.45 and
Maeve Lowther was 15
th in 2:32.95.
Udell had another sixth-place finish in the 1,500 meters, running 5:00.11.
Kylie Maddalena was eighth in 5:03.99, and
Kasey Boag took 10
th (5:08.90).
Maddie Hyde was a spot back (5:15.82), and
Kaitlyn Casas was 16
th (5:22.64).
Elizabeth Gallagher finished fourth in the 200 meters (28.26), and
Caroline O'Connell finished eighth (28.70). Gerow was 14
th (29.89 and
Onyinyechi Kenine finished 16
th (30.05). O'Connell took 10
th in the 100 meters (13.70), and Kenine was 13
th (14.32).
Five members of the men's cross country team raced in the 1,500 meters with Camden Spring leading the way (4
th, 4:13.08). Dennis McNamara was 9
th (4:18.93), Ailin Oberlies 10
th (4:20.79), Matt Bradley 11
th (4:27.82), Dylan Jock 14
th (4:29.03) and Ryan Melendez 19
th (4:42.74).
Isabella Coleman ran on Friday night at Princeton University's Larry Ellis Invitational where she was 22
nd in the 1,500 meters in 4:41.17. Several other Greyhounds will compete at the event on Saturday.
