Roman, Pizzano Lead Greyhounds On Day One Of Mountaineer Invitational

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Jackson Roman's 2-over 74 led the Loyola University Maryland golf team in the morning round at West Virginia's Mountaineer Invitational, and Carlo Pizzano shot a team-best 3-over 75 during the afternoon to lead the Greyhounds through 36 holes of the event.

Roman is tied for 28th individually at 6-over through two rounds, while Pizzano is a shot back and tied for 33rd at the 7,308-yard, par-72 Pete Dye Golf Club.

The first round got off to a rocky start for Roman with two bogeys around a birdie on his first four holes, but he steadied things quickly and had six-straight pars. After two more bogeys, he added another birdie on the course's first hole and then had four pars to finish the round at 2-over.

Pizzano bounced back from a first round without a birdie or better to have four birdies in his second round to finish at 3-over.

As a team, Loyola is 10th in the 16-team field.

James Rico is 10-over and tied for 50th along with Dustin Stocksdale who is playing as an individual and making his collegiate debut. Connor McGarrity and Mike Crowley are both tied for 58th at 11-over.

The third and final round will start at 8:30 a.m.
