Matt Cardano won the lone singles match for the Loyola University Maryland men's tennis team on Saturday, as they lost 6-1 to the Naval Academy on Saturday afternoon.
In the first doubles match of the afternoon, Navy's Herrick Legaspii and Sasha Panyan won over Loyola's Oliver Davvey and
Nick Haggar, 6-2. The Midshipmen followed it up with Graydon Buckingham and Eric Liu defeated the Greyhounds'
Matt Cardano and
Cristian Pemueller, 6-1.
In the last doubles match, Nicholas Nguyen and Jake Young won, 7-5, over
George Cavo and
Nick Lawliss.
The Midshipmen started singles play with a win, as Mattew McNair defeated
Dylan Koziol, 6-0, 6-1. Herrick Legaspi followed it up with a 6-3, 6-3 win over
Nick Haggar. J.J Etterbeek then won 6-2, 6-0 over
Oliver Davey.
In the No. 4 singles match, Aniketh Ayirala defeated
Nick Lawliss, 6-0, 6-1.
Matt Cardano picked up the lone Loyola singles win, as he won at No. 1 over Sasha Panyan, 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (12-10).
Navy's Jake Young won the last singles match at No. 5, against
George Cavo, 6-2, 6-3.
