BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Less than a week after winning the Patriot League men's golf individual title,
Carlo Pizzano added to his award list on Friday when he was named the Patriot League Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
In addition to that honor, Pizzano and
Mike Crowley were named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team for their efforts in the classroom and on the course.
Pizzano shot 73-71-74 for a 2-over 218 to become the third Loyola player to win the conference title. He was named Patriot League Player of the Year and to the All-Patriot League First Team, adding to when he was named to the team in 2022 when he tied for first at the Championships.
In the classroom, he earned his Bachelor of Science in materials and mechanical engineering in May 2023, and he is currently completing coursework for a Master's in data science. He has been a multiple-time Dean's List honoree and also earned Academic All-Patriot League recognition in 2022.
This season, he led the Patriot League in scoring average at 72.13 strokes or 0.38 to par. He shot par or lower in 15 of his 24 rounds.
Crowley earned Academic All-Patriot League honors for the second year in a row after helping Loyola to the Patriot League title with a 17
th-place finish at this year's Championships. He was named to the All-Patriot League First Team last year and also earned PING Regional All-America recognition following the season.
The Baltimore-area native will graduate this month with a Bachelor of Science degree and a double major in finance and information systems and data analytics, having put together multiple 4.0 semester GPAs and earned Dean's List honors all seven semesters at Loyola.
Crowley had a 73.03 strokes per round average this season, 1.39 to par, while playing in every round for the Greyhounds in 2023-24. He won the 2023 BMW Philadelphia Amateur, as well, last summer.
Pizzano and Crowley will join the Greyhounds when they play in the NCAA Regional Championships, May 13-15, at the University Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
