TORONTO – Recent Loyola University Maryland graduates
Alex Bean and
Josh Fairey were selected Sunday in the 2024 NLL Draft presented by Castore.
Bean was selected 11
th overall in the first round by the Georgia Swarm, a pick that made it three-straight years a Loyola player has been drafted in the first round of the NLL event.
Fairey came off the board in the sixth round as the 82
nd overall pick by the Halifax Thunderbirds.
Bean and Fairey were members of the Loyola defense for the last four years and both have box lacrosse experience with the Toronto Beaches Junior 'A' Lacrosse program.
Bean started 31 games over the last four years and played in 36 during his four-year career with the Greyhounds. He had 66 career ground balls and 16 caused turnovers for Loyola.
Fairey saw action in 35 games for the Greyhounds as a defender and long-stick midfielder. He had a career-high six caused turnovers this year with a total of nine in his career, and he also scored his first collegiate goal in the 2024 Patriot League Championships.
