BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland freshman
Emmett Adair was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday after a standout week on the court in two Greyhounds victories.
Adair led the Greyhounds with 19.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in the victories, shooting 62.5 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from 3-point range.
He went for a game- and career-high 29 points Sunday in a 95-84 win over visiting Coppin State, converting 11 of 17 from the field and 3 of 6 from 3-point range while making all four of his foul shots.
The Australian helped Loyola expand on its two-point halftime lead by scoring 23 of his 29 in the second half. He was 8 of 10 from the field after the break.
He scored 10 points in limited action last Tuesday in a victory over Washington College, a game in which he also had seven rebounds.
Adair missed the season's first five games with an illness, but he has quickly become a large part of the Greyhounds' post rotation. In four games, he has scored 10 or more three times and is second on the team with a 14.0 points per game average. His 5.3 rebounds per game are tops on the team over the last four outings, and he also is averaging 2.0 assists.
The Greyhounds will be back on the court on Wednesday, December 3, for a 7 p.m. game at Hampton University.
