ORLANDO – The Loyola University Maryland men's and women's teams split a pair of matches on Thursday to wrap up their 2025 Spring Break Trip to Florida.
The women's side beat Eckerd College, 5-2, and the men lost to the Tritons, 7-0.
Loyola's women swept the doubles matches with
Lauren Manwiller and
Emma Roeck topping Kylie Misdorp and Fiona Orza, 6-0, at No. 1, and
Jessica Bodewes and
Christine Richiez beating Catherine Cole and Olivia Lindestaf, 6-4, on the No. 2 line.
Jocelyn Assael and
Emi Shivkumar were 6-4 winners at No. 3 against Maialen Idiakez and Laura Ullrich.
Lindenstaf scored a point for Eckerd at No. 1 with a 7-6 (1), 6-4, win at No. 1 over Richiez, and Misdrop topped Manwiller, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2.
The Greyhounds, however, swept the three through six matches for the team win.
Elena Hartley beat Catherine Cole, 7-6 (5), 6-3, and
Mia Matriccino got by Maya Soligo, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3 and 4, respectively.
Roeck beat Ulrich, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 5, and Bodewes was a 6-3, 4-6, (10-4) winner against Maialen Idiakez at No. 6.
In the men's match,
Noah Castillo and
Ryan Gill scored a 6-4 win over Batu Ataseven and Mario Kirkov at No. 1 doubles, but Eckerd came back to win the other two matches.
Adrian Gheorghe and Marshall Hulett beat
Ryan Boland and
Cristian Pemueller, 6-1, at No. 2 doubles, and Eric Asakura and Lukas Palla were 6-3 winners against
George Cavo and
Dylan Koziol at No. 3.
Ataseven beat Castillo, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 1 singles, and Kirkov beat Cavo in three, 3-6, 6-1, (12-10) at No. 2.
Marshall Hulett defeated
Ryan Boland, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 3 singles, and Asakura used a tiebreaker for a 6-3, 2-6, (10-6) victory over Gill at No. 4. Gheorghe beat
Blake Edwards, 1-6, 6-4, (10-8), at No. 5, and Palla edged Pemueller, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 6.
