Savannah Manset scored off a
Malia Tarazon corner kick in the 80
th minute Thursday night, and
Brigid Mulholland recorded a clean sheet in goal for the Loyola University Maryland women's soccer team, during a 1-0 Greyhounds' road win at College of William & Mary.
Mulholland made six of her eight saves in the first 80 minutes of the game to hold the match scoreless at 0-0.
The Greyhounds got on the scoreboard directly off a corner kick that Tarazon swung in front of the net. Manset, who scored her first collegiate goal Sunday night in a win over Saint Peter's, finished it in the middle of a scrum of players to put Loyola (2-0-1 overall) up, 1-0, at 79:55.
Manset had another chance with a shot less than three minutes later that was saved by William & Mary goalkeeper Gwen Doughty, and Mulholland made two saves in the final minute of the match to preserve the victory.
William & Mary (0-2-1) had a 15-10 advantage in shots and a 5-4 lead in corner kicks in the match, but Mulholland matched her career-high with eight saves.
The Greyhounds return to Ridley Athletic Complex on Sunday, August 24, to host Princeton at 6 p.m.
