PHILADELPHIA — Loyola University Maryland traveled to face University of Pennsylvania on Friday night, but a big second half from Penn led to a 4-0 win over Loyola at Rhodes Field.
The Greyhounds (1-2-0) kept the Quakers' attack in check for much of the opening half, with goalkeeper Connor O'Keefe making three strong saves. Loyola generated momentum before the break, highlighted by efforts from Richie Nichols and David Williams, who each tested Penn's keeper late in the first half.
After trailing 1-0 at halftime, Loyola pressed forward forward early, earning two corner kicks and doubling its shot production in the second half. Penn, however, found success in the second half, scoring three goals in the half.
O'Keefe finished with six saves in the game, while 21 different players appeared in tonight's matchup for Loyola.
Loyola will remain on the road on Tuesday, as they will travel to face Delaware.
