The Matchup
  • The Greyhounds will begin 2026 on the road as they travel to face Lafayette on Saturday afternoon. 
  • This will be the 32nd meeting between the two programs, with Lafayette holding a 20-11 edge. The Leopards won both matchups last season, as the Greyhounds had won the previous four meetings before that.

  • Loyola features an experienced squad this year, as Loyola features nine upperclassmen on the roster, combining to play over 500 career games.  
  • The Greyhounds will face all but two Division I teams in the state of Maryland this season, starting with #10 Maryland.
  • The Greyhounds have won five of their last six games, with three of their last four wins coming after trailing in the fourth quarter.    

Non-Conference Recap
  • Non-conference play opened with No. 10 Maryland, where they fell 80-26.
  • Loyola then hosted La Salle for their home opener, but fell 71-59. Loyola began a two-game trip where they lost to Virginia Tech 64-48, before losing to Radord 59-50.
  • The Greyhounds remained on the road to take on Drexel in Philadelphia, where they fell 66-57, before returning home to face Mount St. Mary's, losing 69-50.
  • Loyola then traveled to Yale on November 23, winning 73-48. They headed into Thanksgiving with a home matchup against Delaware, losing 67-55.
  • The Greyhounds wrap up non-conference play with a trio of local opponents: earning comeback wins over Towson, UMBC, and Morgan State to close out non-conference play.

Scouting Lafayette
  • Lafayette comes into the matchup with a 4-8 (0-1) record on the season, as they are coming off of a 63-57 loss to Colgate in their Patriot League opener. 
  • The Leopards are averaging 62.6 points per game on 39.9 percent shooting this season, while allowing 64.8 points on 36.9 percent shooting. 
  • Teresa Kiewiet leads the Leopards and the Patriot League in scoring, averaging 17.5 points per game this season. 
  • Talia Zurinskas (11.3 ppg), Sauda Ntaconayigize (11.0 ppg), and Haylie Adamski (10.2 ppg) are all each averaging double-figures this season. 
  • After losing their first three games of the season, Lafayette then won four-straight games, but have lost their last five games entering the matchup.

Building Momentum
  • After a tough start to the season, the Greyhounds have won five of their last six games entering their matchup against Lafayette. 
  • Loyola has begun to find more consistency on the offensive end, as they have shot 40 percent or better from the field in seven of their last nine games. 
  • In their win over Towson, the Greyhounds tallied a season-best 17 offensive rebounds, 50 total rebounds, a .857 free throw percentage (18-21), and their first overtime win of the season.
  • Lex Therien has scored at least 20 points in five of her last seven games games for the Greyhounds.

  • In seven career games against the Leopards, Lex Therien is averaging 14.8 points and 14.1 rebounds, including five double-doubles in those seven games. Therienhas recotded four games with 15 or more rebounds, including two games with 20+ rebounds against the Leopards.
  • Therien entered this season ranked seventh in career points (1,361), second in field goals made (569), and fifth in total rebounds (1,006), while holding the program record for rebounds per game (10.8). She also owns three of the top five single-season rebounding marks in program history.
