Blakeslee Earns Patriot League Rookie of the Week Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland freshman Caroline Blakeslee was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week Tuesday after an outstanding performance at the ECAC Championships over the weekend.

Blakeslee had a pair of individual top five finishes and was on two relay teams that finished second at the meet.

She opened her schedule on Saturday by running 57.33 in the 400 meters, finishing fifth in the 31-woman field.

Blakeslee then came back on Sunday and competed in three events at the meet hosted by Rutgers University.

She clocked a time of 24.61 seconds in the 200 meters and finished third out of 32 runners. Blakeslee's time is the fifth-fastest time in school history and makes her the second-fastest woman in the event to run at Loyola.

Blakeslee also was a key contributor to a pair of second-place relays. She anchored the 4x100-meter team that ran 47.02, the third-fastest in school history. Blakeslee also ran the second leg on the 4x400-meter relay squad that was second in 3:51.57, good for sixth-best in school history.
