Women's Soccer Nabs Two MAAC Awards

Sept. 8, 2003

EDISON, NJ - Loyola nabbed two of the three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) weekly awards announced Monday. Junior Ellen Sroka was named as the MAAC's Offensive Player of the Week while freshman Carolyn Kennington grabbed her first award as the Rookie of the Week.

Sroka, a junior midfielder, earned the award by scoring two goals and adding an assist in Friday's 5-0 win over McNeese State. Sroka had a hand in the final three goals of that contest, assisting on Katie Elliott's goal to set the score at 3-0 and tallying the final two goals herself. She is currently second on the squad in scoring with five points. This is Sroka's first MAAC award.

Kennington, a freshman forward, was named the Rookie of the Week after scoring the first two goals in Friday's win over the Cowgirls. Kennington is first on the team in scoring with three goals for six points.

The Greyhounds return to action on Saturday, Sept. 13 when they visit American University.
