EDISON, N.J. - Loyola University Maryland midfielder Katelyn McFadden was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday after helping the Greyhounds to a pair of league wins against Manhattan and Saint Peter's last weekend.

McFadden used her speed against Manhattan on Friday night to set up a penalty kick opportunity that would prove to be the only goal of the game.

She spun and raced past two Jaspers defenders, forcing a third Manhattan player to take her down in the box, and the foul put the ball on the penalty spot where Lina Staropoli drove home a goal.

McFadden finished the weekend with five shots between the two games.

The award is the second Rookie of the Week nod for a Loyola player this season. Goalkeeper Didi Haracic earned the recognition on October 4. This season, the Greyhounds have earned a total of six MAAC weekly awards between rookies and Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.

Loyola wraps up its 2010 regular-season on Saturday when it takes on Rider in Lawrenceville, N.J., at 2 p.m.
