4x800 School-Record Broken at Penn Relays

April 25, 2010

PHILADELPHA, Pa. - The Loyola track & field team closed out a successful showing at the Penn Relays with its third school record in as many days as the 4x800 relay team set a school mark Saturday at Franklin Field.

The team of Jackie D'Antonio, Courtney McNamara, Alyssa Doyle and Emily Doucette crossed the finish line in 9:36.78, breaking the old mark by just under a second. The old mark was set in the 2006 season at the same Penn Relays.

Earlier in the week, Amanda Bossi qualified for the ECAC Championships with a school-record in the 10,000m (37:03.66). The team of Samantha Westley, Lauryn Granara, Kristina Krupa and Whitney Gibbs also set the Loyola record in the 4x200 (1:45.84).

Westley had a great showing at the TCNJ Lions Invitational Saturday afternoon as well, just missing out on a school-record by four hundredths of a second in the 100m hurdles with a 15.79.
