CATONSVILLE, Md. – Robert Morris University scored the fifth set's last four points to edge Loyola University Maryland, 21-25, 31-29, 25-20, 23-25, 15-13 on Friday evening at the Charm City Challenge.

Back-to-back kills by
Haley Puddy put the Greyhounds in front, 13-11, but a Taylor Lord kill scored a sideout point for the Colonials. Two Loyola hitting errors then gave Robert Morris a 14-13 lead before a block by Emma Granger and Liz Campbell sealed the win.

Ann Ernst led Loyola with a 20-20 game, the first of her career, with 20 kills and a career-best 23 digs.
Mackenzie Fedota matched her career-high with nine blocks and was one of five Greyhounds to post 10 or more kills.

Puddy had 14 kills,
Cat Vaccaro added 11, while
Abby Hamilton and Fedota each had 10.
Molly Werts and
Alaina Acchione both had double-doubles, as well. Werts had 30 assists and 15 digs, while Acchione posted 29 and 11.
Katie Forsythe matched Ernst's 23 digs for team-high honors.

After winning the first set, 25-21, Loyola had set-point in the second, 24-23, but Alyson Londot put away a kill for Robert Morris. The teams extended the play to a total of 60 points, the Greyhounds' longest set of the season, and the Colonials came away with a 31-29 win to even the match.

Robert Morris posted a 25-20 win in the third to go up a set, and it led 16-10 in the fourth before the Greyhounds mounted a comeback. Loyola scored six of eight points and closed to within two, 18-16, but two-straight by the Colonials made it a 20-16 Robert Morris lead, forcing a Greyhounds' timeout.

Loyola came out of the stoppage to score four in a row, tying the score at 20-20 on a Vaccaro kill. Robert Morris sided out with a Londot kill, but the Greyhounds snapped off three in a row to lead 23-21 on a Fedota kill.

Robert Morris bookended a Vaccaro kill with a pair of kills itself, but Ernst sent the match to a deciding fifth set with a kill to end the fourth.

Londot led Robert Morris with 16 kills, while Lord had 15. Nikolette Zanolli had a match-high 30 digs.

Loyola will be back in action against host UMBC at 2 o'clock on Saturday afternoon.
