CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Patriot League revealed its weekly women's soccer award winners on Monday afternoon, with Loyola University Maryland freshman goalkeeper
Paige Sim chosen as the conference's Rookie of the Week.
Sim (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista) is selected for a second time this season, as she was previously named Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 7. She collected 14 saves across two Patriot League contests, allowing just one goal in 217:27 minutes of game action.
For the week, Sim went 0-1-1 with a 0.41 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage. She is now 5-2-3 on the year with a 0.62 GAA (second in the Patriot League, 28th in Division I) and a .860 save percentage (first in the Patriot League, 25th in DI) in her debut collegiate season.
Sim totaled six saves in a 0-0 draw at Bucknell on Wednesday, helping the Greyhounds earn their first result over the Bison since joining the Patriot League prior to the 2013 season. She then made a season-high eight stops during a 1-0 double-overtime setback to Colgate on Saturday, keeping the Raiders off the scoreboard until a game-winning header in the 108th minute.
Four Loyola players have now combined for seven Patriot League weekly awards this season, with other honorees including
Hannah Hoefs (3x),
Sarah Bayer and
Kaleigh Gallagher.
The Greyhounds (6-7-3, 3-2-3) have one game remaining in the 2019 regular season, as they travel to Patriot League-leading Navy for a 7 p.m. matchup on Friday night. Loyola, currently third in the conference standings, can clinch a spot in the Patriot League tournament with a win or draw in that contest, or through results from other conference games over the weekend.
