WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Loyola University Maryland golf combined to shoot even-par 280 in Monday's first round, and then during an afternoon in many teams' scores went up, the Greyhounds were a stroke better to finish the day at 1-under through 36 holes at the Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational.

Loyola sits tied for 10
th place after two rounds in a field that includes six teams ranked in the national top-50 and nine from the top-100.

Washington shot 15-under in the second round to take a five shot lead over host Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons, who entered the week ranked No. 1 in the nation, sit at 18-under, three shots in front of Louisville and five up on West Virginia. Cincinnati, Rutgers and East Carolina are tied for fifth at 8-under, while Georgia Southern is eighth at 6-under.

Penn State slipped to ninth after shooting 6-over in the second round to finish the day at 5-under, four shots in front of the Greyhounds. Former NCAA Champion Augusta University is 11
th at even-par, while Yale is 12
th at 8-over, and Virginia Tech is 17-over in 13
th.

Evan Brown turned in a pair of sub-par rounds to lead the Greyhounds. He carded three birdies and six pars on the back-nine of his opening round to finish at 2-under 68 on the 6,966-yard par-70 course.

Brown opened his second 18 with two birdies amongst his first four holes before stringing together six-straight birdies to make the turn to the backside. He overcame a bogey on the 11
th to par five more holes before finishing his day birdie-bogey for 1-under 69. Â His two-round total of 3-under 137 is tied for 15
th.

Brandon Berry had the team's low-round Monday, carding five birdies with 12 pars and a double-bogey in the second round to shoot 3-under 67 after posting a 2-over 72 in the first. At 1-under 139 after two, Berry is tied for 28
th.

Nick Mejia matched Brown's team-low 68 in the first round, birding the last two holes to finish at 2-under for the round. He then shot 2-over 72 in the second round to finish two rounds at even-par 140 for a tie for 30
th.

Carlo Pizzano started his day with birdies on the third and fourth holes, but the round at 4-over on the last 14 holes to post a 2-over 72. In his second round, he bogeyed the second hole but got back to level with a birdie on the fourth. He then parred 13 of the last 14 holes to finish the round at 1-over 71 for a two-round score of 3-over 143, good for a tie for 64
th.

Preston Ball birdied the 17
th hole during his morning round to get back to 2-over where he would finish the 18, but after getting to even par for the tournament after four holes in his second round, he was 6-over the rest of the day to check in at the end of the day tied for 64
th at 6-over.

Loyola will wrap up play in the tournament starting on Tuesday morning with a final 18 holes.
