EARLYSVILLE, Va. – The Loyola University Maryland men's and women's cross country teams had their final races on Friday morning before the upcoming championship season, competing at the University of Virginia's XC23 Invitational at Panorama Farms.
Both teams finished seventh with
Abby Potticary and
Dillon Harding logging top-40 finishes for their sides.
Harding moved up eight spots over the last 3,000 meters to cross the line in 35
th place with a time of 25:17.6. The freshman was 52
nd overall through 3,000 meters and 43
rd through 5,000 before making his final push.
Nathan Galloway also had a top-50 finish for the men's team, running 25:44.0 to take 50
th.
Patrick Cropsey rose 10 places in the final stretch, covering the 8,000-meter course in 26:1-.2 to finish 58
th, while
Jake Fowler was nearby in 62
nd at 26:20.4.
Ethan Ginyard (81
st, 27:17.0),
Tyler Vega (84
th, 27:50.1) and
Dylan Jock (85
th, 27:54.6) rounded out the men's scoring.
Evan Alander (88
th, 28:10.5),
Evan Skurat (93
rd, 28:39.2),
Bryan Hickman (94
th, 29:12.2) and
Aidan Day (95
th, 29:28.6) were also among the finishers for the Greyhounds.
Potticary led the women's team with a 32
nd-place run, finishing in 18:31.4 for her time leading the Greyhounds out of the same number of races this season.
She was followed by three other Loyola runners who finished in the top 50, led by freshman
Isabella Coleman. She took 43
rd in 19:17.6, while
Grayce Heinemann was 48
th (19:34.3) and
Kate Ragone finished 50
th (19:37.0).
Caite O'Hehir and
Maeve Lowther finished within two seconds of each other, taking 55
th and 56
th, respectively, with times of 20:04.8 and 20:06.3.
Isabel Slimm and
Marissa Branham were 64
th and 65
th in 20:46.7 and 20:48.6, while
Kasey Boag and
Sammie Spargo took 68
th (21:33.8) and 69
th (21:36.3).
The Greyhounds will be back in action on Sunday, October 31, with a Halloween-day running of the 2021 Patriot League Championships that will be held at Lehigh University.
