COCKEYSVILLE, Md. – Led by senior Ainsley Jacobs and junior Bryan Clayton, the Lafayette College men's and women's cross country teams won both championships at the Loyola Invitational at a frigid and windy Shawan Downs on Saturday.
Sophomore
Abby Potticary led Loyola with a ninth place finish (27:53) in the women's race. Junior Catie O'Hehir followed in 17
th place with a time of 29:05. Jacobs finished first to lead the Leopards to 24 points and the title. American was second with 33 points while host Loyola took third.
With a time of 26:17, Jacobs was one of four Lafayette runners who place among the top five finishers. Sophomore Rachel Hurley was third (26:26) and sophomore Rebecca Hartman (26:44) took fourth place. Sophomore Dannah Javens finished fifth (27:08).
Sophomore Ana Keane led American by taking second place with a time of 26:18. Freshman Kylie Raymond finished sixth with a time of 27:15.
Junior
Kate Ragone ran 20
th for the Greyhounds (30:04) while
Marissa Branham took 22
nd place (30:01). Freshman

Junior
Jake Fowler was Loyola's top performer in the men's race. He ran the course in a time of 22:55 to take fifth place. Junior Brian Clayton of Lafayette finished second with a time of 22:22 to lead the Leopards to the title. Lafayette had three of the top four finishers in the men's race.
Lafayette had 21 points to edge American for the championship. Loyola did not compete as a team. Senior Russell Sullivan of American was the top runner in the men's race with a time of 22:15.
Loyola's men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Lafayette on Friday, March 5 to compete in the Patriot League championship meet.
