BALTIMORE – CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) released its 2020-21 Academic All-District selections for women's soccer this week, with Loyola University Maryland junior forward
Sarah Bayer among those recognized in District 2.
Bayer becomes the program's first Academic All-District honoree since Nichole Schiro was chosen in 2012. The All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. District 2 includes student-athletes from Maryland, Delaware, Kentucky, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
A biology/speech pathology interdisciplinary major with a biomedical physics minor, Bayer currently maintains a 3.97 cumulative grade-point average. She was previously announced as a repeat Academic All-Patriot League selection back in April, and she posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester.
On the field, Bayer became the program's first three-time All-Patriot League recipient this spring, as she was a third team honoree after ranking second on the team in points. She provided the only goal in a key 1-0 win at American which helped the Greyhounds secure a second-straight Patriot League tournament appearance, and she added her fourth collegiate assist in a 2-1 victory over Colgate to begin the season. Bayer was named first team All-Patriot League following a sophomore season in which she contributed four goals and two assists, and she is a three-time Patriot League weekly award winner during her Loyola career.
Bayer was one of just 15 standouts to earn Academic All-District accolades in District 2. She now becomes eligible for Academic All-America consideration, with winners expected to be announced in early July.
