BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League released its preseason awards for the 2021 fall women's soccer season on Tuesday morning, with Loyola University Maryland juniors Paige Sim and Ada Clare Tempert each receiving Preseason All-Patriot League accolades.

The Greyhounds, who have reached the conference semifinals in each of the last two seasons under head coach Joe Mallia, were also ranked fifth out of 10 schools in the preseason poll. Loyola received 104 points, eight back of Army West Point in fourth, and one available first-place vote.

This is the second-straight season that the Greyhounds have had multiple selections to the Preseason All-Patriot League team, as both Sarah Bayer and Julia Gray were recognized prior to a 2021 spring season in which Loyola went 3-2-1 and placed second in the conference's South division standings.

Sim, an All-Patriot League performer in each of her first two collegiate seasons, surrendered just three goals while playing every minute in goal last spring. She finished with a 0.48 goals-against average and .824 save percentage, and has recorded eight shutouts in her first 19 collegiate starts. In her first 20 appearances at Loyola, Sim is 9-4-6 with 71 saves, a 0.52 GAA and a .866 save percentage.

Tempert was a first team All-Patriot League honoree in her first collegiate season last spring after missing the 2019 campaign due to injury. She factored in both goals during a 2-1 win over Colgate to begin the regular season, scoring the opener and firing in a cross which turned into an 88th minute own goal. Tempert added the lone strike in a 1-0 victory over Bucknell the following weekend, and she was tied for the team lead with 10 shots overall on the year.

The Greyhounds were one of three schools to have multiple Preseason All-Patriot League honorees. Navy, which has won each of the last two Patriot League Championships, took first in the preseason poll with 154 points and 14 of the 20 available first-place votes.

Voting for the preseason poll and award winners was conducted by the 10 women's soccer head coaches and athletic communications contacts. The Greyhounds begin regular season play with a 6 p.m. home matchup against Marist on Thursday, August 19.
