The Matchup
  • The Greyhounds will travel to New Jersey for their first road game of the season, as they are traveling to face Princeton on Thursday evening. 
  • This is the seventh matchup between the two programs, with Princeton holding a 4-2 edge. 
  • Loyola won the matchup last season, 2-1, thanks to goals from Anais Stephen and Francesca Khachatourians, and 8 saves from Hannah Goetzer.

  • The Greyhounds 3-1-1 start to last season was their best five-game start to the season since the 2016 season, where they also started 3-1-1. 
  • Loyola's six game unbeaten streak to start Patriot League play last season was the longest unbeaten streak to start conference play since joining the Patriot League.

Defending Home Turf

  • They host Stony Brook, Fairleigh Dickinson, Iowa State, and James Madison at home, before opening Patriot League play by hosting Boston and American. 
  • Loyola has a 25-14-14 record at Ridley over the past five seasons, including going 2-3-4 at home last season. 

Greyhounds Defense
  • The Greyhounds defense was one of the top defenses in the Patriot League last season, as they allowed the second fewest goals (18) last season. 
  • The Greyhounds back line returns Renee Wanzor, who was second on the team with 1,529 minutes last season. Nevaeh Vick, Kaleigh Darby, and Rylie Van Wingerden will look to fill a bigger role this season on the backline for Loyola, after the Greyhounds graduated three seniors on the backline. 
  • Last season, Hannah Goetzer and Brigid Mulholland were both strong in goal. Goetzer posted a 4-3-7 record, while posting a .808 save percentage, 59 saves, and a 1.00 GAA. Mulholland posted a 1-2-1 record with a .733 save percentage, 11 saves, and a 1.00 GAA. 
  • Both senior goalkeepers return this season looking to anchor the stout Greyhounds defense. 

Scouting Princeton
  • Princeton opens their 2026 season on Thursday night as they host Loyola. 
  • They are coming off of a 8-6-3 season last year, where they lost to Dartmouth in the Ivy League Championship game, 1-0.
  • The Tigers enter the season as the Ivy League favorites, as they were picked first in the Preseason Poll, receiving 10 of the 16 first place votes. 
  • Princeton returns their starting scorer, Alexandra Barry (five goals, four assists), and Dylan Jovanovic, who led the team with six assists. They also return both goalkeepers in Cecilia Cerone (1.22 GAA) and Sydney Romano (0.72 GAA). 
  • Both goalkeepers appeared in last years' matchup, both allowing a goal. 
  • Zoe Markesini scored the long Princeton goal in last seasons' game. 

Quick Notes
  • The 2025 season will be the 14th season the Greyhounds have been in the Patriot League, going 37-49-29  in the Patriot League during that span, reaching the Patriot League Championships in six straight seasons, including four trips to the Semifinals. 
  • This is Head Coach Joe Mallia's second stint at the helm with the Greyhounds. During his first stint, Mallia went 87-45-9 (54-4-5, MAAC), Winning the MAAC Regular-Season Championship four times, and the MAAC Tournament Championship three times.
  • In his four season's back at the helm, Mallia has gone 44-38-28. 
  • The Greyhounds have gone 67-48-25 at home since the opening of Ridley Athletic Complex. 

Recipe for Success 
  • When scoring first last season, the Greyhounds went 4-0-4 on the season. 
  • When scoring at least one goal last season, Loyola is 5-0-5, including 4-0 when scoring multiple goals.
  • The Greyhounds have won 30 of the last 34 games in which they have scored two goals or more, which dates back to Sept. 6, 2018. Loyola was 4-0 when scoring multiple goals last season.
  • The Greyhounds are 33-2-9 when scoring first and 23-1-2 when leading at halftime since the beginning of the 2022 season.
  • Loyola has experienced success on the road last season, posting a 3-2-4 record on the season. In those nine games, the Greyhounds have allowed just eight goals. 

Between The Pipes
  • After splitting games during non-conference season with Mulholland, Hannah Goetzer started each Patriot League game, and has been one of the top goalkeepers in the country this season. 
  • Through 14 games started, Goetzer had a .808 save percentage, 59 saves, and a 1.00 Goals Against Average (GAA) this season. 
  • Prior to Colgate, her save percentage ranked third in all of Division I, while her 0.50 GAA ranked 6th. 
  • Goetzer was fourth the Patriot League in save percentage and third in GAA last season.

Key Returners
  • Brigid Mulholland and Hannah Goetzer both return in goal for the Greyhounds this season, after the pair combined to play every minute in goal last season. 
  • On the back line, Renee Wanzor returns after finishing second on the team in minutes played last season. 
  • In the midfield, Brigid McElderry, Ella Moss, and Reagan Mallia return to the Greyhounds. The trio all appeared in at least 16 games last season, led by McElderry who started in 15 of 18 games she appeared in. 
  • Leading the attack, Savannah Manset, Taryn Buckley, and Francesca Khachatourians return. Manset led the team with seven points, 50 shots, and 21 shots on goal last season as a freshman. Buckley tallied two goals and a assist during her freshman campaign, while Khachatourians had a team-best three assists to go along with a goal last season. 
  • Leah Carter, Anais Stephen, and Malone Christen all return to bring some speed on the wings for the attack.
