Bethlehem, PA. -- The Patriot League released its preseason awards for the 2022 fall women's soccer season on Thursday morning, with Loyola University Maryland senior
Paige Sim being named as the preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and preseason first-team.
The Greyhounds, who have reached the conference semifinals in two of the last three seasons under Head Coach
Joe Mallia, were picked to finish in fourth place, out of 10 teams in the preseason poll. The Greyhounds received 116 points and two first place votes.
Sim is a three-time All-Patriot League award winner, as well as being named the 2021 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year, as well as being named to the 2021 United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-North Region. During her career with the Greyhounds, Sim has appeared in 38 games, while compiling an 17-10-10 record. Sim has 147 saves, with a 0.835 save percentage. She has also compiled a 0.73 goals allowed average in her career, with 15 shutouts. Sim was the only Greyhound to receive a spot on the Preseason All-League Team.
Voting for the preseason poll and award winners was conducted by the 10 women's soccer head coaches and athletic communications contacts. The Greyhounds begin regular season play with a 7 p.m. home matchup against Drexel on Thursday, August 18.
