NEW YORK – Loyola University Maryland's 4x200-meter relay team took almost three full seconds off the school record in the event on Friday afternoon as the Greyhounds opened their weekend at the Scarlet Knights Open.
Jamie Adams,
Lauryn Clarke,
Caroline O'Connell and
Jane Mazzeo ran 1:42.41 at New York's famed Armory Track & Field Complex to beat the time of 1:45.31 set last season by
Ava Dunn, Ainsley Jodlbauer,
Taylor McHugh and Adams.
The Greyhounds finished second in the race to Maryland Eastern Shore's 1:41.52. The group of
Nelly Cruz, Baguiao,
Elizabeth Gallagher and Gerow ran 1:50.74 in the event and finished 10
th with the sixth-fastest time in school history.
Meghan Leonard paced four Greyhounds in the 600 meters, running 1:41.88 to finish 22
nd.
Kat Zysk was 26
th (1:42.43),
Kiera Udell took 28
th (1:45.15) and
Kaitlyn Casas was 31
st (1:50.49).
Isabella Coleman took eighth in the 1,000 meters, running 2:59.00, while
Maeve Lowther was 14
th in 3:08.99.
Julia Baguiao was the top finisher for Loyola in the 400 meters, running 62.33 to take 32
nd, as
Lauren Gerow was 50
th in 66.00.
Norah Affanato led six Loyola entries in the mile run, clocking 5:21.05, good for 42
nd.
Sammie Spargo was 45
th (5:23.90),
Kasey Boag finished 56
th (5:33.21),
Kylie Maddalena was 60
th (5:38.49),
Maddie Hyde took 61
st (5:40.77) and
Mackenzie Newman finished 65
th (5:46.98).
