Bethlehem -- The Patriot League announced their weekly women's soccer awards on Monday afternoon, as Loyola University Maryland's
Riley Kennel was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week.
This is Kennel's first career Patriot League weekly award.
Kennel started both games during the Greyhounds 1-0-1 week, playing in 150 minutes over two games, which was the third most minutes on the team. She scored the Greyhounds first half goal in their 1-1 draw against Florida Atlantic on Thursday. In total, she tallied four shots in the draw. On Monday, she played a key role on the back line as Loyola held Saint Peter's scoreless in the 2-0 win on Sunday evening. Kennel helped the Greyhounds defense hold opponents to just five shots on goal over two games.
Loyola will return on the road on Thursday, as they will travel to face William and Mary on Thursday evening.
