Cruz Ties School Record At Patriot Games

FAIRFAX, Va. – Nelly Cruz tied the school indoor 60-meter hurdles record on Saturday, leading groups of Greyhounds who ran at the Patriot Games in Northern Virginia and the Penn State National Open.
 
Cruz ran a personal-best time of 9.09 seconds to tie the school record set on February 17, 2012, by Samantha Westley. Cruz finished fifth in the race, and Elizabeth Vigliotti was 13th in 10.04.
 
Also at the Patriot Games, Jane Mazzeo led four Greyhounds in the 60 meters, taking 14th in 8.06 seconds, while Mia Maselli was 20th in 8.16. Olivia Dever ran 8.20 for 22nd, and Jolia Kaoma was 33rd in 8.47.
 
In the 200 meters, Julia Baguiao ran 27.28 for 16th, Ellisa Sadler took 18th in 27.58, Kaoma was 20th in 27.94 and Chelsea Ayitey-Adjin ran 28.78 for 27th.
 
Dever led four Greyhounds in the 400 meters, taking fifth in 60.51; Nicolette Militi was 12th in 62.17, Baguiao finished 13th in 62.88 and Ayitey-Adjin ran 64.60 for 17th.
 
Lauren Gerow, Meghan Leonard and Vigliotti finished in the top 10 of the 500 meters, taking third (1:20.19), sixth (1:21.02) and ninth (1:22.90), respectively.
 
Zoe Keefe and Stella Mische raced int eh 800 meters, finishing 13th (2:22.56) and 2:36.49. Maeve Lowther was seventh in the 1,000 meters in 3:10.24, and Talia Banafato took 14th in 3:31.54
 
Mackenzie Newman finished 12th in the mile with a time of 5:22.55, and Selah Decatur took 22nd in 5:40.71. Abigail Arseneau raced in the 3,000 meters and was 17th in 11:11.55.
 
Leonard, Keefe, Mische and Newman were seventh in the distance medley relay in 13:18.28, while two 4x400-meter relay teams raced for Loyola. Cruz, Vigliotti, Dever and Gerow were third in 4:05.12; Maselli, Mazzeo, Sadler and Lowther took seventh in 4:20.28.
 
At the Penn State National Open, Kat Zysk claimed 12th in the 1,000 meters, running 2:57.56, the 10th-best time in school history.
 
Claire Griffin and Claire Dalsass finished 24th and 25th, respectively, in the 600 meters with times of 1:38.37 and 1:39.81. Griffin's time is sixth-fastest in school history, and Dalsass' is seventh.
 
Lauryn Clarke was 20th in the 200 meters, clocking 25.01 seconds, Gabby Snowden was 34th in 25.51 and Maddie Van Haren took 50th in 26.00.
