Loyola Univeristy Maryland's golf will play in one of the premier college golf events of the season this week when it takes on the field at the Cabo Collegiate. The 16th-annual event hosted by the University of Arkansas will start Sunday, March 1, and run for three-straight days at the Twin Dolphin Club in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
The Greyhounds will play in a field that includes teams from Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Cal, UC Santa Barbara,Florida State, Georgia Tech, Houston, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Rice, Stanford, Tennessee, Vanderbilt. Past champions at the event include current PGA Tour players Collin Morikawa, Austin Eckroat and Sam Bennett.
The winner of this year's tournament will receive an exemption to the World Wide Technologies Championship, a PGA Tour event scheduled for November 5-8 in Cabo San Lucas.
Loyola opened its spring schedule with a second-place finish at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Phoenix with all six players at the event finishing under par and the Greyhounds setting a school-record 31-under par.
The three-day tournament in Mexico will open with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday with play commencing each day at the same time.
