Bethlehem, Pa. - The Loyola men's and women's cross country teams posted solid finishes at the Paul Short Invitational on Friday evening in Bethlehem, Pa. The Greyhounds, who finished 23rd on the men's side and 38th in the women's race, competed against nationally-ranked competition from across the country.

The men ran against 41 squads and scored with Top-100 finished from senior Brian Parker, junior Chris Heibell and sophomore Terry Moran. Parker placed 61st overall with a time of 25:28, Heibell crossed the finish line in 25:35, while Moran ran a 25:46.

Juniors Keith Forlenza (26:54) and Timm Woods (26:55) posted sub 27-minute times on the 8K course while sophomore Dan McDevitt rounded out the scoring with a time of 27:57. Villanova won the men's race with 50 points, while Syracuse (84) and Princeton (92) rounded out the Top-3.

In women's competition, junior Maureen Wynne led Loyola's effort with a 6K time of 22:33. The Greyhounds, who finished 38th out of 48 teams, saw freshmen Lindsay Wilson (22:54) and Kate Cervo (23:43) place second and third on their squad.

Junior Alexandra Salani ran a 23:45, while freshman Lindsay Murphy, senior Bethany Gentry and junior Nicole Gilhuley rounded out the Greyhound scoring. Princeton won the women's race with 45 points, West Virginia took second and Texas Tech place third with 154 team points.

The Greyhounds, ranked regionally on the men's side, will return to action on Saturday October 13 at both the Delaware Invitational and the Brooks Pre-Nationals in Terra Haute, Ind.
