Game Data

• Loyola heads on the road this weekend for for two of three road games that will close the regular-season. The Greyhounds play in Riverdale, N.Y., at Manhattan, on Friday, 7 p.m.
• Sunday's game against Saint Peter's, at 1 p.m. in Jersey City, N.J., will be the penultimate regular-season game for the Greyhounds.

Series History

• Manhattan and Loyola have played several tight contests over the past five seasons with no games being decided by more than one goal. Loyola is 2-1-3 during that stretch, including a 1-1 tie in last year's MAAC Quarterfinals that the Greyhounds needed a 5-4 edge in penalty kicks to advance to the semifinals en route to the MAAC title. Friday's game will be the 20th meeting between the programs with Loyola holding a 14-2-3 advantage.
• The Greyhounds are 18-3-0 all-time against Saint Peter's in 21 previous meetings.

Last Time Out

• Loyola picked up a pair of wins in MAAC play last weekend, defeating Fairfield, 2-0, and Iona, 3-0. On Friday night against the Stags, Nichole Schiro scored twice in the first eight minutes, and the Loyola defense limited Fairfield's chances to eight shots and just three on goal.
• The Greyhounds followed that effort with a 3-0 victory over the Gaels as Schiro scored twice, and Gianna Mangione tallied a goal and an assist. Danielle Ippolito and Didi Haracic combined to make seven saves in goal for the shutout.

Two For Two

• Nichole Schiro tallied two goals in both of Loyola's wins last weekend, bringing her season total to 14, the third-best mark in Greyhounds' single-season history. The multi-goal games were her fourth and fifth of the season, marking the second-most multi-goal games by a Loyola player in the program's history, behind only the six Ali Andrzejewski had in 2005.

One Of Each

• Gianna Mangione scored a goal less than three minutes after halftime on Sunday, giving the Greyhounds a 2-0 advantage over Iona, and she added an assist in the 57th minute on Schiro's goal. The was the first of Mangione's career at Loyola where she has recorded both a goal and an assist. She is second on the team with four goals this season.

Kelly Chasing Kelly

• Entering last weekend, Kelly Farrell had caught teammate Kelly Thomas with 14 career assists, and six minutes into Friday's game, Farrell passed her with an assist on Schiro's goal, marking the 15th assist of her career. Farrell's lead, however, did not last long, as Thomas tallied her second assist of 2010, tying her again with Farrell in the category.
• Thomas pulled ahead in the career assists race on Sunday, sending a perfect cross to the far post where Mangione was waiting to bounce in a goal, giving Thomas three assists this year and 16 in her career. Thomas is now seventh all-time at Loyola in assists, and Farrell is tied for eighth.
• Farrell leads Loyola and the MAAC with seven assists this year, one shy of tying the Loyola single-season record.

Moving On Up

• With four goals in last weekend's two games, Nichole Schiro jumped into seventh place all-time at Loyola in career goals, scoring 23 in just 40 games over the past two seasons. Her next goal will tie her for fifth with Christina Gomez (2006-09) and Courtney Arikian (2003-07).
• Schiro's 14 goals this year currently rank third on Loyola's single season charts behind Ali Andrzejewski's 2004 (18) and 2005 (15) totals. Her 29 points this year also are third behind Andrzejewski's 43 and 32 from the same year.
• She leads the MAAC in goals, goals per game (0.82), points (29), points per game (1.71) and game-winning goals (6) this season, and her 14 goals are already tied for 14th on the MAAC's single-season chart. Schiro has scored on 31.1-percent of her shots and is not even in the top 10 in the league in shots per game this season.

Moving On Up, Part II

• Schiro, Farrell and Thomas aren't the only ones on the Greyhounds who are climbing the career charts at Loyola this season. Lina Staropoli's assist against Niagara on October 3 was the 18th during her four years at Loyola, tying her for third all-time at the school with Annie DiPalo (1999-2002).
• Staropoli's next assist will tie her with Jamie DeSoto (1995-1998) for second all-time at Loyola.

Defense Denying Goals

• Loyola posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time this season last weekend, denying Fairfield and Iona the net. Danielle Ippolito played 153:28 minutes and made seven saves, and Didi Haracic came in for the final 26:32 against Iona.
• The Greyhounds allowed 21 shots in the two games against teams that combine for an average of nearly 15 per game in MAAC play this year.

In The Coaches Box

• Katherine Remy Vettori starts her third season as the head coach of the Greyhounds, bringing a 32-19-9 career record to the sidelines at the start of the season. Vettori, who led Loyola to the MAAC regular-season and tournament titles last year, was named Anaconda Sports MAAC Coach of the Year in 2009.
• Vettori is assisted by third-year assistant coaches Erin Konheim, Amanda Piccirilli and Dave Nesbitt.
