BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland assistant women's soccer coach Morgan Ruhl has signed a professional contract and will suit up for the Washington Spirit of the National Women's Soccer League for its season finale on Saturday night.

A former U.S. Youth National Team goalkeeper and graduate of Louisiana State University, was one of six players added to the Spirit roster as a National Team Replacement for those called-up to train with Team U.S.A.

Ruhl is in her third year on the sideline for the Greyhounds, her second as a full-time assistant coach after serving as a volunteer assistant in 2016. She is also the goalkeepers coach for the Spirit's U.S. Soccer Development Academy program in Maryland.

This weekend will be a busy one for Ruhl who will be on the sidelines for Loyola as the Greyhounds take on Utah State (Friday, 6 p.m.) and UMBC (Sunday, 7 p.m.). The Spirit play the final game of the regular-season at 7 p.m. on Saturday against Sky Blue FC at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown, Maryland.

Ruhl, a Monkton, Maryland native was a top-recruit out of nearby McDonogh School before an injury stymied her career at LSU. She was an All-State, All-Metro and All-IAAM honoree at McDonogh and was ranked in the ESPNHS Top 150 and Top Drawer Soccer 100 for the Class of 2012.

Ruhl was a member of the U.S. National Team and Region I pools for three years during high school.

Although she did not play collegiately at LSU due to injury, she was an undergraduate assistant coach and worked with the Tigers' goalkeepers. She graduated from LSU with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in special education.
