STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – A pair of Loyola University Maryland sophomores,
Courtney Kenny and
Senna Ohlsson, each had standout performances for the Greyhounds on Friday at the Gotham Cup, setting a school indoor record in the 300 meters and winning the 800 meters, respectively.
Kenny broke her own record in the event, clocking a time of 41.07 to finish third in the event; her performance bettered the mark of 41.78 she set in December. Teammate
Molly Smith was right behind, finishing fourth with the second-fastest time in school history, 41.27, and
Maria Jaeckel ran 43.25 to place eighth with the No. 5 time in school 300 history.
Shortly thereafter, Ohlsson ran an indoor personal-best in the half-mile, running 2:14.63, the fifth-best time in school history. Fellow Greyhound
MaryEllen Woods took third in the event in 2:16.81, the No. 10 performance all-time at Loyola.
Smith, Kenny, Ohlsson and Woods later ran 3:55.53 to finish second in the 4x400-meter relay, the seventh-best time in school history.
Gabrielle Silvestri,
Tara Ryan and
Kate Ragone had top-10 finishes in the 1,000 meters with Silvestri's 3:06.65 leading the trio to take sixth. Ryan was eighth in 3:07.27, while Ragone finished 10
th in 3:09.36.
Kayleigh Caggiano also had a top-10 finish for Loyola, racing to an eighth-place time of 5:10.93 in the mile.
Courtney Wallace and
Mary Sutton were 15
th and 18
th, respectively, in the event with times of 5:20.84 and 5:25.61.
Kelly Williamson won her heat and finished eighth overall in the 3,000 meters, running 10:56.83.
Caite O'Hehir took 29
th in the event in 11:58.78.
Gillian Blackwood was the team's top finisher in the 60-meter hurdles, running 9.47 to place 21
st, while
Bre Mucius was 33
rd in 10.03.
Katherine Schramm had the Greyhounds' best 60-meter time, running 8.29 to finish 35
th; Danielle Span finished 46
th in 8.54.
Rachel Koller finished 51
st (62.57) in the 400 meters to lead the Greyhounds, and
Jacqueline Kohaut clocked a time of 63.52 to finish 66
th. Jaeckel led Loyola in the 200 meters with a time of 26.83 to finish 23
rd, while Schramm was 33
rd in 27.35.
Two other Greyhounds also had top-20 finishes in the 800 behind Ohlsson and Woods.
Carly Spinnler was 15
th in 2:24.48, and
Audrey O'Neill took 17
th in 2:25.24.
O'Neill, Ryan, Caggiano and Spinnler took second in the 4x800 meters, running the seventh-fastest time in school history, 9:46.14.
