PRINCETON, N.J. – In its meet before the Patriot League Championships
on Saturday, November 2, the Loyola University Marylandmen's and women's cross country teams ran in the very competitive Princeton University Invitational
on Saturday morning at the Tigers' West Windsor Fields course.
The Greyhounds competed against a very tough 20-team field for the women while the men's team ran against 23 of the top teams in the East.
In the women's 6,000-meter race, senior
Mary Sutton was the Greyhounds' top runner. She finished 92
nd in the field with a time of 23:18.5. Freshman Abigail Potticary was the second-best Loyola runner with a time of 23:29.8 as she took 97th place.
Grayce Heineman had a time of 23:33.9 to place 99th, while
Kelly Williamson (23:41.5) was 101
st. Aubrey O'Neill posted a time of 24:26.7 to edge teammate
Kate Ragone for 119
th place. Ragone also had a time of 24:26.7. Freshman Sydney Vortuba (24:59.1) placed 127
th in the race.
Freshman
Chloe Sobchak (25:46.7) and junior
Jordyn Pugh also ran for the Greyhounds.
Loyola took 19
th place in the women's race. Patriot League for Boston University finished first with 53 points while George Washington was runner-up (94). LaSalle took third place, ahead of the University of Connecticut. Columbia finished fifth.
In the men's race, sophomore
Nathan Galloway led the way for Loyola as he finished the 8,000-meter course with a time of 25:25.20. Galloway took 78
th place. Sophomore
Patrick Cropsey finished 142
nd with a time of 26:27.5. Sophomore
Brandon Rossi posted a time of 26:53.4 to finish 149
th.
Senior
John Schuerger finished with a time of 27:12.1, placing 155
th. Freshman
Alex Schueller finished 159
th with a time of 27:59.1. Junior Samuel Miller took 161
st place with a time of 28:04.5. Freshman Charles Dillon (28:37.3) and sophomore
Spencer Askine (28:57.1) rounded out the Loyola contingent.
The Loyola men's team finished 24
th in the meet as Stony Brook took first place with 53 points. The University of Connecticut was second (120), just ahead of LaSalle (133). Boston University was fourth (142) while Fordham took fifth place.
Both of the Loyola Maryland cross country teams will travel to Colgate University
on November 2 to compete in the Patriot League championship meet.
