BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Loyola University Maryland women's and men's cross country teams finished 23
rd and 24
th, respectively, at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday as three individuals finished in the top 100 of their races.
Five of the women's runners improved their standing in the race by at least eight spots over the final 2,000 meters to rise to 23
rd overall.
Kayleigh Caggiano led the Greyhounds with an 83
rd-place finish, covering the 6,000-meter course in 21:59.0. In her final collegiate cross country race, Caggiano was 121
st after the first third of the race and moved up to 85
th after 4,000 meters before making her final push in the last 2,000.
Senna Ohlsson was steps behind Caggiano to take 85
th overall in 21:59.1. Ohlsson led the Greyhounds in 112
th after 2,000 meters and was 103
rd after 4,000 before improving 18 spots in the final stretch.
Abby Potticary crossed the line in 140
th (22:46.4), and
Mary Sutton closed her cross country career at Loyola with a 148
th place finish (22:55.8), moving up 14 slots in the last 2,000 meters.
Grayce Heinemann was the final scorer for Loyola in 157
th (23:10.6).
Kelly Williamson (160
th, 23:14.3) and
Audrey O'Neill (175
th, 23:29.6) also competed for the Greyhounds.
Nathan Galloway led Loyola with a 98
th-place finish on the men's side, crossing the finish line at 32:37.1 in the 10,000-meter race.
Patrick Cropsey took second for Loyola in 160
th (34:26.6), while
John Schuerger was 162
nd (34:33.0).
Brandon Rossi finished 169
th in 35:09.4, and
Sam Miller came in 175
th for the Greyhounds with a time of 36:23.7.
