Ohlsson Leads Cross Country At Patriot League Championships In First Race

Senna Ohlsson was Loyola's top finisher Saturday.
HAMILTON, N.Y. – A two-time Patriot League champion on the track, Loyola University Maryland junior Senna Ohlsson competed for the first time as a collegiate cross country runner and led the Greyhounds women's team as the side's top finisher on Saturday at the Patriot League Championships.

Ohlsson moved up 15 spots over the race's last 1,000 meters to take 28th overall in her first cross country race for the Greyhounds. She won the 800 meters at the 2019 Patriot League Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field Championships, a race significantly shorter than today's 6,000-meter course.

As a team, Ohlsson's performance helped Loyola take eighth ahead of both American and Colgate. The men's team was 10th in its race.

Abby Potticary was the second Loyola woman across the line, coming in 65th in 23:52.2, while Kelly Williamson was two spots behind in 23:56.5. Mary Sutton finished 71th at her final Patriot League Championships, crossing the line in 24:02.8. Grayce Heinemann was the Greyhounds' final scorer in 73rd, running a time of 24:08.3.

On the men's side, Nathan Galloway led Loyola in 61st place, covering the 8,000 meters in 27:20.3, while Brandon Rossi was 87th in 28:34.8. Patrick Cropsey was steps behind Rossi in 88th, running 28:35.1, and John Schuerger took 92nd in 28:50.1. Sam Miller was the Greyhounds last scorer in 94th with a time of 29:08.9.

Two others ran for the Loyola men, as Alex Schueller took 100th (29:39.1) and Charles Dillon was two spots behind in 29:54.6.

For the women, five others finished the race for the Greyhounds: Audrey O'Neill (86th, 24:31.1), Kate Ragone (98th, 25:25.1), Sydney Votruba (104th, 25:52.0), Jordyn Pugh (105th, 25:57.1) and Chloe Sobchak (109th, 27:01.3).

Loyola finishes its season on Friday, November 15, at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
