MaryEllen Woods
BOSTON – Loyola University Maryland's 4x800-meter relay team won its heat in Saturday's preliminaries to advance to the event's final on Sunday at the 2019 ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Greyhounds' team of Kayleigh Caggiano, Carly Spinnler, Senna Ohlsson and MaryEllen Woods ran 9:04.40, the second-best time in school history behind the 8:51.68 Loyola ran to finish second at the Patriot League Championships last month.

In the race, Loyola held off a team from Rutgers University that finished second in 9:05.18.

Ohlsson competed in the 800 meters individually, running 2:09.04, a time that is second-fastest in school history. She finished 11th, however, and did not advance to the final on Sunday.

Loyola's 4x400-meter relay team – Heather Merrifield, Molly Smith, Eve Schoenberg and Courtney Kenny – ran 3:53.82, the No. 8 time in school history and was 17th in the preliminaries.
