BOSTON – Loyola University Maryland's 4x800-meter relay team won its heat in Saturday's preliminaries to advance to the event's final on Sunday at the 2019 ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The Greyhounds' team of
Kayleigh Caggiano,
Carly Spinnler,
Senna Ohlsson and
MaryEllen Woods ran 9:04.40, the second-best time in school history behind the 8:51.68 Loyola ran to finish second at the Patriot League Championships last month.
In the race, Loyola held off a team from Rutgers University that finished second in 9:05.18.
Ohlsson competed in the 800 meters individually, running 2:09.04, a time that is second-fastest in school history. She finished 11
th, however, and did not advance to the final on Sunday.
Loyola's 4x400-meter relay team –
Heather Merrifield,
Molly Smith,
Eve Schoenberg and
Courtney Kenny – ran 3:53.82, the No. 8 time in school history and was 17
th in the preliminaries.
