WORCESTER, Mass. –
Senna Ohlsson became the first Loyola University Maryland student-athlete to win an individual title at the Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships, racing past the field in the 800 meters in the final quarter of the race.

Ohlsson, who also won the 800 at the 2019 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships, was in second place during the pack's second time through the front-stretch, but she smoothly passed into first and accelerated down the final straightaway to cross the line in 2:08.69. She held off Bucknell University's Tiara Tardy who was second in 2:10.21. Ohlsson's time is the second-fastest in school history.

Her performance helped lead the Greyhounds to their best-ever finish at the Patriot League Championships with 48 points to claim seventh.

Heather Merrifield and
Molly Smith both set school records on Saturday for Loyola and were two of six individuals to score during the afternoon.

Merrifield took second in the 400-meter hurdles, breaking the school record she set earlier this season with a time of 60.34. Her teammate,
Devon Terwilliger, had a personal-best time of 62.05 in the event, winning her heat and coming in sixth overall with the No. 6 time in school history. Both of the times by Merrifield and Terwilliger were ECAC Championships qualifying performances.

Smith took fourth in the 400 meters, racing the quarter-mile in 55.78 seconds to lop nearly a second off her previous best that was a school record. She also reached the ECAC meet with her performance.

The 4x400-meter relay of
Rachel Koller, Smith, Ohlsson and
Courtney Kenny placed fourth to close the event for Loyola, running 3:48.18 to claim another school record and ECAC-qualifying performance.

Kayleigh Caggiano finished fourth in the 1,500 meters, clocking a time of 4:37.72 that is seventh-best in school history and an ECAC-qualifying performance.

MaryEllen Woods won her 800-meter heat in 2:13.20, a time good for eighth place in the event that Ohlsson won.

Courtney Wallace was 13
th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 11:27.04, the No. 9 time in school history.

Loyola's 4x100-meter relay team got the day started with a sixth-place time of 48.72.
Rhoda Miller, Koller, Smith and
Ariana Santo Pietro's time is tied for third-best at Loyola.
