Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland's men's and women's tennis teams began Patriot League play with a pair of 7-0 defeats to Lehigh at McClure Tennis Center on Sunday.

Benny Glezer, Edik Pribitkin and Charlie Shanker each took their respective opponents to three sets in singles for the men. Glezer was edged 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 at the No. 2 position, Pribitkin fell 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 and Shanker was bested 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4 in a tight match at No. 4.

The Mountain Hawks (1-0) earned the doubles point with 6-4 victories in all three matches.

The three doubles matches were also close on the women's side. Kateri Martin and Abigail Thornton fell 7-6 (2) in a tiebreaker at the top spot, while the tandems of Julia Thompson/Taylor Kuncl and Sydney Lund/Lauren Williamson each lost by 6-4 scores.

Martin had the most competitive singles match for the Loyola women, taking Lehigh's Paula Gonzalez to a tiebreaker in the second set before ultimately falling 6-4, 7-5.

Both tennis teams return to action on Tuesday afternoon, traveling to Coppin State for duals beginning at 3 p.m.
