LEWISBURG, Pa. –
Lily Mead and the Loyola University Maryland women's 200 freestyle relay teams left Bucknell University's Kinney Natatorium victorious on Friday night after winning titles at the Patriot League Championships.
The relay team did so in dramatic fashion, holding off Army West Point on the final leg while breaking a school, pool, Patriot League meet and overall record that had stood since 2016.
Mead,
Avery Stimmel,
Haley Robinson and
Charley Tulio defended the Greyhounds' 200 freestyle relay title that they won last year for the school's first women's relay record since joining the conference.
They put down a time of 1:30.83 that clipped the 2016 record of 1:30.94 by Navy. The Greyhounds' time held off Army West Point's 1:31.34.
Earler in the night, Mead won her seventh career Patriot League individual title, setting a school, Patriot League overall and championships meet in the process.
The Loyola graduate student time of 52.51 seconds was victorious by more than two seconds over Navy's Ela Habjan's 54.67 seconds. It also broke her school record of 52.86 seconds from December's U.S. Open Championships.
It is her second title of the 2025 Championships after she won the 200 individual medley on Thursday night. She picked up her third career title in the 100 backstroke after winning the event in 2022 and 2023, and her time Friday night is a NCAA 'B' qualifying standard.
After three days of the Championships, the Loyola men are third and the women are fourth.
The Greyhounds' men's 200 freestyle relay team –
Caleb Kelly,
Patrick Hayburn,
Brennan Coyle and
Joe Hayburn – took second in 1:18.24.
Patrick Hayburn and Hans Van Lierop went two-three in the 100 butterfly. Hayburn finished in 47.44, and Van Lierop was right behind in 47.87.
Cameron Shinnick won the 'B' final and was ninth in 47.75 seconds.
For the women,
Riley Fried was fourth in the 400 individual medley, turning in a personal-best time of 4:21.73.
Kate O'Brien finished 12
th (4:27.27).
The Loyola men had four of the eight competitors in the 'A' final of the 100 breaststroke and scored 101 points in the event.
Brennan Coyle swam a season-best time of 53.06, for a NCAA 'B' standard and third place.
Michael Gozdan took fourth in 53.59, and
Michael Venit was fifth in 53.96.
Zach Eisenmann rounded out the group with a seventh-place finish in 54.48.
Joe Hayburn finished third in the 100 backstroke in 46.81. His morning preliminaries time of 46.29 broke his own school record and is another NCAA 'B' standard.
The event was another that the Greyhounds had four in the top final, and they scored 99 in the race.
JD Moyer was fifth (48.12),
Henry Mueller took sixth (48.34) and
Patrick Hayburn was seventh (48.63).
Cameron Shinnick won the 'C' final in 49.30.
Kelly Bruen finished 11
th in the women's 100 backstroke in 56.67 seconds, and
Lauren Lane swam 57.10 seconds for 15
th.
Laura Latham took 11
th in the 100 butterfly in 55.27 seconds, and Michaela Schultz swam 56.01 for 14
th.
Haley Robinson won the 'C' final in 55.68 seconds, and
Julia Mason was 2
nd in 56.57.
Schultz later was 14
th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.37.
Avery Stimmel won the 'B' final of the 100 breaststroke with a swim of 1:04.62.
Cali Fasser finished 15
th in the women's 1-meter diving, scoring 220.85 points.
Kiernan Leary was 16
th in the 400 individual medley for the men's team, swimming 3:59.37;
Luke Dwyer won the 'C' final and was 17
th in 3:56.71.
Hayden Bartz took 16
th in the 200 freestyle for the Greyhounds, swimming 1:40.32.
Alex Plavoukos won the 'C' final for 17
th in 1:39.73, and
Harry Hearn was 24
th in 1:43.34.
