ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Loyola University Maryland's
Lauryn Clarke ran the fastest 60- and 200-meter qualifying times on Saturday at the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships, setting a pair of school records in the process at the Wesley Brown Field House at the U.S. Naval Academy.
Clarke dropped a hundredth of a second off her 60-meter school record by running 7.51 seconds to post the top finals qualifying time of the day.
She then ran another personal best and broke the school record in the 200 meters, clocking 24.40 seconds to top the 2023 mark of 24.51 seconds by
Jamie Adams. Clarke will also be the No. 1 seed in that event's final on Sunday.
The Greyhounds will pick up competition in Annapolis on Sunday, March 2, when the Championships resume at 12 noon.
Kiera Udell finished 17
th in the mile, running 5:08.79 on Saturday.
Claire Dalsass and
Julia Baguiao were 25
th and 26
th, respectively, in the 400 meters with times of 61.19 and 61.44.
Talia Banafato was 21
st in the 800 meters in 2:26.87, and
Nelly Cruz ran the No. 6 time in school history in the 60-meter hurdles to finish 13
th.
Jane Mazzeo was 16
th in the 60 meters preliminaries, running 7.94 seconds for 16
th, and
Madelyn Ricard was 19
th in 8.13 seconds. Mazzeo was then 27
th in the 200 meters (25.93), an event that four other Greyhounds competed in. Madison Van Haren was 28
th in 26.00,
Mia Maselli took 37
th (26.76),
Elizabeth Gallagher finished 40
th (27.66) and
Lauren Gerow was 41
st (28.83).
