Track & Field Splits Saturday To Compete At Morgan State, ECACs

The Loyola University Maryland women's track and field team split into two squads this weekend to compete locally at the Morgan State Legacy Meet and in New Jersey at the ECAC Outdoor Championships.
 
Loyola opened the ECAC Championships in the women's 100‑meter dash preliminaries with four Greyhounds in the field. Gabby Snowden recorded the team's top sprint performance of the day, placing ninth overall with a wind-aided time of 11.99. Lauryn Clarke followed closely behind in 10th at 12.07, while Maddie Van Haren finished 16th in 12.17; Jane Mazzeo rounded out Loyola's efforts in the event, crossing in 19th place with a time of 12.26.
 
Caroline Blakeslee recorded a top‑five finish for the Greyhounds in the 400 meters, placing fifth overall in 57.33. Olivia Dever also competed in the event, finishing 22nd with a time of 59.74 in the finals standings.
 
Loyola posted multiple top‑10 performances in the women's 800 meters, with Katrina Zysk leading the way. Zysk took ninth overall in a time of 2:15.87, while Claire Griffin followed closely behind in 10th at 2:15.97. Those times slot them as the ninth and 10th fastest Loyola runners in the event in school history. Claire Dalsass completed the race in 15th place with a time of 2:17.19, and Meghan Leonard rounded out the Loyola contingent in 25th with a time of 2:20.16.
 
The Greyhounds also competed in the women's 100‑meter hurdles preliminaries, where Nelly Cruz recorded a 16th‑place finish. Cruz crossed the line in a wind-aided 14.57.
 
Maeve Lowther earned a podium finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing third overall with a time of 11:16.06, the seventh-fastest time in school history in the event.
 
Another group of Greyhounds competed locally at Morgan State.
 
In the women's distance events, Loyola posted multiple finishes in the 1,500 meters, led by Mackenzie Newman, who placed fourth in 4:52.40. Selah Decatur followed in seventh at 4:58.67, while Abigail Arseneau took 12th in 5:08.74 and Madelyn Hyde finished 14th in 5:11.60. Sarah Teed crossed in 18th at 5:30.52, with Alaina Bromley rounding out the race in 19th at 5:40.78. In the 800 meters, Zoe Keefe finished 10th with a time of 2:19.53, Stella Mische placed 16th in 2:22.81, Kiera Udell was 25th in 2:29.84 and Talia Banafato notched a 30th‑place finish in 2:36.58.
 
Loyola sprinters and hurdlers competed across multiple events on the track. Nicolette Militi finished 22nd in the 400 meters with a time of 59.48, followed by Julia Baguiao in 25th at 59.98, Ellisa Sadler in 37th at 1:01.87 and Chelsea Ayitey‑Adjin in 44th at 1:05.36. In the 100‑meter prelims, Baguiao placed 24th in 12.46, while Jolia Kaoma finished 44th in 12.92. Kaoma also placed 17th in the 100‑meter hurdles prelims at 16.70. In the 200 meters, Kaoma crossed in 46th at 26.72, Sadler finished 49th in 26.87 and Ayitey‑Adjin placed 58th with a time of 28.17.
 
On the men's side, several Loyola cross country runners competed in the middle‑distance events. In the men's 1,500 meters, Will Lancaster led the Greyhounds with an eighth‑place finish in 4:07.69. Cal Lipkin followed in 11th at 4:11.39, Matt Bradley finished 13th in 4:13.13 and Christian Zawislack crossed in 16th at 4:14.06. Lancaster doubled back in the 800 meters, finishing 25th overall with a time of 2:01.18.
