Men’s Cross Country Logs Best Patriot League Championships Finish, Women Tie Top Performance

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Nathan Galloway and Dillon Harding crossed the line within two seconds of each other, becoming the top finishers at a Patriot League Championships in Loyola University Maryland men's cross country history with 18th- and 19th-place finishes, helping the Greyhounds to their best ever result as a team on Sunday at the 2021 event.

Meanwhile, Abby Potticary ran a terrific closing effort and took 16th on the women's side, the third-best finish for a Loyola woman at the Championships.

The duo of Galloway and Harding led the men to a seventh-place finish, the best finish for a Loyola team since the school joined the conference in 2013. Every place finisher for the Greyhounds had the best standing in Loyola's Patriot League history for a full-field event (the 2020 Championships did not have all 10 teams competing).

On the women's side, Loyola matched its best-ever finish by checking in at eighth place.

The men's 183 points were 81 lower than their previous best finish at a full-field meet. Loyola's women scored 204 points, their second-best total behind 2015 when they scored 195 and also were eighth.

Galloway and Harding ran as a team pair throughout the race and steadily moved up in the field. They came through the mile mark in 28th and 29th and then were 20th and 21st after three miles.

Galloway crossed the finish line at 8,000 meters in 25:44.7, while Harding was right behind in 25:46.5.

Dylan Jock finished steps behind Spring, running 82nd in 27:38.6, while Evan Skurat was 95th in 28:22.8. Tyler Vega finished 96th in 28:26.8, and Connor Rebele took 98th in 28:35.9.

Evan Alander was a place back in 99th (28:43.5), and he was followed by Ethan Ginyard (101st, 28:52.4) and Bryan Hickman (107th, 29:08.5).

Potticary kicked her way to a strong finish rising from 31st at the two-mile marker to her 16th place finish. She ran 22:18.5 over the 6,000-meter course to finish the race.

Maeve Lowther was just one-tenth of a second behind Spinnler in 76th (24:00.1), and Catie O'Hehir finished 81st in 24:13.5.
