LEWISBURG, Pa. –
Lily Mead became the first Loyola University Maryland women's swimmer to be named Patriot League Swimmer of the Meet as the Loyola women's swimming and diving team posted its best-ever Patriot League Championships team finish, and the Greyhounds men set a school-best for points at the meet, on Saturday as the 2025 edition of the Championships concluded at the Kinney Natatorium on the campus of Bucknell University.
Loyola's women finished fourth as a team, the program's best finish since joining the conference in 2013-14.
The Greyhounds men took third for the second year in a row and third time overall. Loyola scored 1,213 points on the men's side, a school-best topping last year's 1,099 points.
Combined the programs brought home four individual and two relay titles from the four-day meet.
Mead wrapped up a stellar Patriot League career as Loyola women's swimming and diving's most-decorated swimmer at the conference meet. She picked up her third individual title of the Championships on Saturday night, winning the 200 backstroke for her eighth Patriot League individual title over the course of her career.
Mead set another meet and school record in the event, swimming 1:55.10 for another NCAA 'B' Qualifying Standard. She also won the 200 individual medley on Thursday night and the 100 backstroke Friday. She also helped the team of
Avery Stimmel,
Haley Robinson and
Charley Tulio finish fourth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:23.40.
She was named the Patriot League Women's Swimmer of the Meet, joining Ben Cono (2018) as the only Loyola swimmer to win either the men's or women's award. Mead finished tied for high point-scorer at the meet on the women's side with 96.
The Greyhounds men had three second-place finishes on Saturday with individuals
Joe Hayburn and
Caleb Kelly picking up silvers in the 200 backstroke and 100 freestyle and the 400 freestyle relay team closing the meet with a second-place swim.
Hayburn went for a school record finish and NCAA 'B' Qualifying Standard in the 200 backstroke Saturday, swimming 1:42.17.
Kelly took second in the 100 freestyle in 43.41 seconds, just a tenth of a second back of Army West Point's Thomas Hadji in first.

Joe Hayburn and
Brennan Coyle combined to go 2:54.97 for a school record and second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay that closed the meet.
Ellie Davis opened Saturday night's session with a ninth-place finish in the women's 1,650 freestyle, swimming a school record time of 17:09.73.
Faith Karr and
CC Leoni also scored in the event for loyola, finishing 14
th and 17
th, respectively, in 17:15.98 and 17:18.84.
Alex Plavoukos earned a fifth-place finish in the men's 1,650 freestyle, toughing the wall in 15:26.26; Kiernan Learn was 11
th in 15:40.77.
Lauren Lane and
Grace Dwyer also picked up points in the 200 backstroke for the Greyhounds women. Lane took 12 (2:01.71), and Dwyer was 22
nd (2:04.34).
Loyola's men placed three in the top eight of the 200 backstroke, led by
Joe Hayburn.
Henry Mueller was fifth in 1:44.82, and
JD Moyer took eighth in 1:48.60.
Stimmel logged a seventh-place finish in the 100 freestyle, turning in a time of 51.38. Tulio was 16
th in the event in 52.09, and Robinson tied for 20
th in 51.96.
Coyle came in ninth behind Kelly's second in the 200 freestyle, winning the 'B' final in 44.43. Hans Van Lierop was 17
th (44.88).
The men's team had another event with three in the top eight as
Michael Gozdan (1:58.13),
Zach Eisenmann (1:59.44) and
Michael Venit (2:00.30) took fourth, seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 200 breaststroke.
Noelle Hoffman took 19
th in the women's version of the race, swimming 2:23.14.
Riley Fried earned a sixth-place finish in the women's 200 butterfly, swimming 2:02.27.
Julia Mason,
Laura Latham and
Faith Karr also scored in the event with times of 2:06.99 (14
th), 2:07.53 (15
th) and 2:09.38 (22
nd), respectively.
Cameron Shinnick led six Loyola men who tallied points in the 200 butterfly, finishing fourth in 1:47.61.
Luke Dwyer and
Harry Hearn were eighth and ninth in 1:52.04 and 1:47.06, while
JD Moyer took 16
th in 1:50.73.
Owen Glaser finished 19
th in 1:49.50, and
Hayden Bartz swam 1:50.55 for 21
st.
A pair of Loyola men scored in the 3-meter diving competition.
Sam Hersick finished 17
th with 256.45 points, and
Thomas McCarthy was 20
th with 240.55.
